Position Description
Postdoctoral Fellowship in Neurology, University of Washington and VA Puget Sound.
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Neurology to work on funded research projects. The laboratory is focused on the regulation and function of extrasynaptic GABA receptors, both GABAA and GABAB receptors, in TBI and epilepsy models. Ongoing projects are interested in neuroinflammation in TBI.
The laboratory uses a variety of electrophysiological techniques, biochemical approaches, immunofluorescent microscopy, and in vivo EEG recordings. The laboratory is well-equipped, including instrumentation for optogenetic stimulation of neurons, and has access to confocal microscopes and other core equipment. UW and VA Puget Sound have strong and collegial research environments.
Postdoctoral scholars are represented by UAW 4121 and are subject to the collective bargaining agreement unless agreed exclusion criteria apply. The initial appointment shall be for a minimum of 1 year (12-month service period). The total appointment duration is not to exceed 5 years, including postdoctoral experience(s) at UW and other institutions. Salary is commensurate on months of experience as defined by the collective bargaining agreement. For more information, please visit the University of Washington Labor Relations website .
The base salary range for this position will be $4,417 - $7,334 per month ($53,004 to $88,008 per year), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Other compensation associated with this position may or may not include Startup, Relocation Incentive/Moving Allowance Administrative supplement for a defined administrative role, or Productivity Incentive.
The anticipated start date is 11/1/23.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate has experience with patch-clamp recording in acute brain slices, enthusiasm for experimentation, and a collegial attitude. Experience with fluorescent imaging and rodent EEG are desirable.
Eligible applicants should have a Ph.D. in a related field, or foreign equivalent.
